Flowers Foods' third-quarter sales climb 4%; amends Tastykake recall announcement
Thomasville, GA-based Flowers Food, Inc. (NYSE: FLO), producer of Nature's Own, Dave's Killer Bread, Wonder, Canyon Bakehouse, and Tastykake, among other bakery foods, reported a small sales improvement for the company's 12-week third quarter, ended Oct. 9, 2021.

- Sales increased 3.9% to $1.028 billion compared with results in the prior year period.
- Net income decreased 12.4% to $38.9 million. Adjusted net income increased 3.9% to $64.9 million.
- Adjusted EBITDA increased 1.8% to $118.5 million. Adjusted EBITDA represented 11.5% of sales, a 30-basis point decrease.
- Diluted EPS decreased $0.03 to $0.18. Adjusted diluted EPS increased $0.01 to $0.30.
AMENDED: Flowers Foods issues voluntary recall on certain Tastykake products due to possible presence of tiny fragments of metal mesh wire
Flowers Foods amended its Oct. 31 voluntary recall press release on certain Tastykake products to reflect additional products included in the recall.
As a precautionary measure, the company is voluntarily recalling certain Tastykake multi-pack cupcakes and certain Krimpets products due to the potential presence of tiny fragments of metal mesh wire. The recall was initiated following notification by a vendor of the possible contamination in a supplied ingredient and is being amended following additional notification from the vendor.
The Tastykake multi-pack cupcakes products being recalled were distributed to retail customers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia. The Tastykake Krimpets products being recalled were distributed to retail customers throughout the U.S.
