The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) inducted Philippe Caradec, vice president, public affairs and sustainable development of Danone Waters of America, Inc., into the IBWA Bottled Water Hall of Fame at IBWA's Annual Business Meeting today (November 14).
Mr. Caradec has been involved in the bottled water industry for more than 25 years. In 1992, he joined EVIAN North America, which also began his involvement with IBWA. With Danone Waters of America, the North American business unit of the Paris-based Danone, Mr. Caradec handles the company's government affairs, sustainable development, and corporate social responsibility efforts. He also handles these duties for Happy Family and Nutricia North America.
Mr. Caradec, a past chairman of IBWA, is currently a member of IBWA's Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He also served as the first co-chair of IBWA's Environmental Sustainability Committee and as a member of IBWA's Communications Committee.
"Philippe has, for over 25 years, devoted himself tirelessly to the bottled water industry and he continues to take a leadership role in many IBWA activities," said Bob Hidell, chairman of Hidell International. "Philippe has compiled a record of IBWA and community activity that compose the founding ideals of the Hall of Fame candidate and he continues to support these ideals in his daily life."
From 2005 through 2017, Philippe has overseen community engagement activities with Danone Waters of America such as:
- Danone donating approximately 57 million pounds of food to Feeding America, the largest U.S. network of food banks, from 2000-2015.
- Danone's leadership events with Girls4 Tomorrow in New York and Fort Worth, Texas, which awarded $30,000 to 24 projects led and designed by young women toward improving school health and nutrition environments.
- Danone's support of local Women and Infant Children (WIC) programs, such as the Morrisania WIC Program in The Bronx, N.Y.
Mr. Caradec is a previous recipient of IBWA's Board of Directors' Award (now the IBWA/Kristin Safran Directors' Award), which he received in 2008.
After this year's ceremony, IBWA has inducted 40 members inducted by IBWA into the Bottled Water Hall of Fame. The individuals in this exclusive group have gone above and beyond the call of duty, demonstrating their devotion, creativity, and love for the bottled water industry during the course of their careers. Their association with the industry and civic and charitable activities also exceed those of the average business person. Hall of Fame inductees are those who have earned the respect and admiration of their peers for their extraordinary service to the bottled water industry.
