Data from the IRI year end 2017 shows the sales of salty snacks totaled at least $5.3 billion, a 7.24% increase over the previous year. Favorites on the shelves are those that meet dietary needs, such as Kosher dietary needs. Some of the top flavors based on sales growth are hot and spicy, Mexican, vinegar, sweet and beer. Chips in particular have been a steady item in c-stores. Smartfood popcorn has also been moving fast.
