BreaktimeTV, a platform that promises to enable vending, OCS and micro market operators to extend their reach beyond traditional products, is expanding nationally after more than 300 successful installs in the Phoenix and Salt Lake City markets. The platform is designed to provide breakroom entertainment and services supported by incremental advertising revenue.

BreaktimeTV founder Patrick McMullen explained to VendingMarketWatch.com that his company's technology accesses global ad engines and continuously delivers ads to kiosks and second screens. He says that many other current solutions are delivery mechanisms only while BreaktimeTV handles the ads, delivery and other metrics.

“We bring the ads in volume to operators. Current solutions mostly require operators to individually seek out advertisers. Operators can continue any existing advertiser relationships and point-and-click those ads into our technology, but the majority of their ad revenue will come from our technology,” McMullen said.

“Every screen is a revenue and culture source,” he added.

McMullen notes that BreaktimeTV has a proprietary interface with DirectTV that allows the company to use the breakroom screens and televisions, multiplying operators’ earning opportunities. The company also provides educational content through podcasts and other educational sessions.

“When coupled with our frictionless passive revenue stream through our BreaktimeTV ad technology, it brings a culture solution to operators that makes them far more than just a bags and bottles provider,” said McMullen.

McMullen notes that BreaktimeTV’s platform is available beyond micro markets or vending operators. “One of the biggest upsides of BreaktimeTV is that we can go everywhere. Micro markets, vending and coffee-only locations are just a start.” The company’s clients already include restaurant chains and casinos.

According to McMullen, BreaktimeTV is expanding rapidly. In early 2025, it plans to onboard nearly 5,200 additional screens and incorporate premium offerings.

As a part of the national launch, Patrick McMullen will transition to managing partner of Breaktime Holdings, the holding company for all the Breaktime brands. Additionally, Jon Evans, the long-time CEO of Breakroom Choices, has assumed the role of president at BreaktimeTV. Darren Evans, the COO of Breaktime Choices, will continue to focus on the management of Breakroom Choices.

What they are saying

“Jon and Darren Evans have a nearly 30-year track of success in the breakroom world. With BreaktimeTV growing, we are elevating the responsibilities of our key Breakroom Choices team members so that Jon will join myself in spearheading this nationwide growth,” McMullen said.

“My role includes serving in board positions of all companies related to the Breaktime brands,” McMllen said. “Part of why BreaktimeTV has been so successful is our lengthy and extensive background in both breakrooms through Breakroom Choices and my leadership of Three Square Market. We blended that expertise in our team to help shape where BreaktimeTV was moving.”

"When Patrick joined us following the sale of Three Square Market, this vision was clear," said Darren Evans, COO of Breakroom Choices, in a press release. "By leveraging each other's strengths, we've created a model that not only significantly increased our clients' satisfaction but also grew our market sales by nearly 9% and boosted our bottom line thanks to BreaktimeTV's added revenue stream."

“Darren's #1 focus will be ensuring our Breakroom Choices operation continues to on its' 30-year success trajectory. Yet, his operational expertise for BreaktimeTV is a great balance to the visionary insight Jon and I typically operate in,” McMullen added.
