The nation's largest Coca-Cola bottler acquired distribution rights from another North Carolina-based bottler. Charlotte-based Coca-Cola Consolidated Inc. said it has purchased distribution rights to certain beverages sold and distributed by Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Washington, NC, Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.
According to a statement, the purchase transferred rights to distribute, market, promote and sell certain beverages currently sold by Washington NC Coca-Cola, including trademark brands of Coca-Cola Co. and its partners Monster Energy and Body Armor. The agreement also includes rights to distribute certain Dr Pepper products. Coca-Cola Consolidated's rights to these products went into effect Jan. 1, 2002.
“Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Washington, NC and its predecessors have proudly served the world’s best beverage brands since 1910,” said president and chief executive Braxton B. Dawson Jr. “My father purchased the business in 1956 and for 65 years our family has been honored to serve our customers and this community. We love the Coca-Cola business, so we are delighted that Coke Consolidated will continue to build on this rich legacy of service and excellence.”
