J&J Snack Foods Corp. (Nasdaq: JJSF) reported a 51% sales increase in the third quarter, ended Jun. 26, to $324.3 million from $214.6 million in last year’s third quarter. Net earnings were $28.9 million in the latest quarter, compared with a $12.6 million loss last year.
Earnings per diluted share was $1.51 for the third quarter, a significant increase compared to the $0.67 loss per diluted share last year. Operating income increased to $38.1 million in the current quarter versus a $19.4 million loss last year.
For the nine months ended June 26, 2021, sales were $821.5 million, a 7% increase from the same period last year when sales were $769.5 million. Net earnings were $36.7 million for the nine months, compared with $11.7 million last year.
J&J’s foodservice brands include Icee, Luigi’s Italian Ice, Super Pretzel and Funnel Cake Factory.
