The Coca-Cola Foundation Gives Back $84.5 Million In 2015 To Benefit Nearly 300 Organizations
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Coca-Cola Foundation donated USD $84.5 million to nearly 300 organizations in 2015. These grants will directly benefit communities across more than 70 countries and territories, with approximately 95 percent of the grants focused on The Coca-Cola Company’s core sustainability priorities of women, water and well-being. “Since 1984, The Coca-Cola Foundation has given back more than $820 million to communities in more than 200 countries across the world,” said Bea Perez, Chief Sustainability Officer, The Coca-Cola Company. “As the Foundation begins its 32nd year of giving back, we are proud of the increasingly diverse range of projects we support that make a meaningful difference for communities and the environment.”
In 2015, the Foundation awarded approximately $5.5 million to support women’s empowerment initiatives, $26.5 million to support water and environmental initiatives, $48 million to support community strengthening initiatives including education, youth development and HIV/AIDS, and $4.3 million for other important programs that support community improvement, arts and culture, and humanitarian/disaster relief rounding out to total of nearly $85 million given back to communities in 2015.
In Canada, grants totaling $440,000 (approximately CAD $562,633*) were given to the following organizations:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada - $150,000 (~CAD $191,807)
Support for the expansion of the Triple Play program to local Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Canada
Ducks Unlimited - $100,000 (~CAD $127,871)
Resorting water through wetlands conservation, specifically 121 acres of land in the Prairie Pothole Region
EPODE International Network - $90,000 (~CAD $115,084)
Supporting expansion of community-based obesity prevention programs in Canada
George Brown College - $50,000 (~CAD $63,936)
Awarded Coca-Cola First Generation scholarships of $2,500 to 20 students who are the first in their families to attend college
The Nature Conservancy of Canada - $50,000 (~CAD $63,936)
Restoring the Bow River Watershed and supporting watershed conservation efforts near Calgary, Alberta
