Aug. 6, 2015

RICHMOND, Va. ‒ Performance Food Group, Inc. (PFG) today announced plans to expand its Performance Foodservice ‒ Milton’s food distribution facility in Oakwood, Ga. during a groundbreaking ceremony held there today.

The expansion project will include construction of a new 174,000-square foot building to be built on 43 acres adjacent to the current operation at 3501 Old Oakwood Road.  The new building will feature a freezer, meat cutting operation, maintenance areas and space for fleet operations.  The project is scheduled for completion in 2016 to be followed by the conversion of the existing freezer into a three-zone cooler section.

“We are proud of our Milton’s team, which has done a great job growing their customer base with both multi-unit and independent restaurants over the past several years,” said Dave Flitman, President & CEO of PFG’s Performance Foodservice business segment.

“This expansion will enable them to continue to grow well into the future.”

Performance Foodservice ‒ Milton’s distributes fresh meats and produce, dry groceries, frozen and refrigerated products, and restaurant supplies.  Its customers include local and multi-chain restaurants, country clubs, daycare centers, hospitals, schools, nursing homes and correctional facilities primarily located in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina.

“We’re excited about our future prospects and looking forward to continuing growth,” said Danny Berry, Regional President, Performance Foodservice ‒ Milton’s.  “We live and work in a great area and remain committed to growing our business in Georgia and the surrounding states.”

Performance Foodservice ‒ Milton’s can trace its history back to 1961 when it began as the Blue Ribbon Packing Company before becoming Milton’s Institutional Foods a year later. It was acquired by PFG in 1995.

“Performance Food Group’s investment in Oakwood is a renewed long-term commitment to the community,” said Tim Evans, Vice President Economic Development, Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.  “This expansion is welcome news, and we’re excited that the company can continue to serve its customers with a fantastic team of associates in Hall County, Georgia.”
