Costa Rican retailer Megasuper installed Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions' self-checkout system, becoming one of the first in the country to offer self-checkout options.

Megasuper, a leading retailer in Costa Rica, has installed Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions' Self Checkout System 7, becoming one of the first in the country to offer self-checkout options.

Megasuper credits its customers’ changing preference for technology solutions as well as a desire to streamline store operations, boost sales and ensure security and fraud prevention.

Jonathan Velasquez, CIO at Megasuper, said Toshiba’s technology offerings and experience were key to aligning the company’s goals with its shoppers. “Strategic technology solutions like the Self Checkout System 7...will play an important role in delivering an unparalleled experience to our customers,” he said in a statement.

To bring the in-store self-checkout experience to customers, Toshiba teamed with regional industry partners Rhiscom and GBM to provide integration and service support. Rhiscom incorporated Megasuper’s current point-of-sale software into the new self-checkout systems. GBM provided advice, technological solutions integration and support services to Megasuper.
