Smart card technology connects payments and access on college campuses
Technology intended to support a cashless environment for campus-based students can serve as a single point of identity on campus. Transact IDX, a cloud-based system, manages student credentials, provides access to meals, and allows students to access facilities and technology. In real-world terms, the technology helps them purchase meals, do laundry, pay for printing and buy snacks at a vending machine using a single card or mobile payment method.
Transact IDX Summer release is intended to streamline campus workflows. The software upgrades promise to enhance the user experience. According to the company, Cardholder management was augmented with global search capabilities, summary overviews, and color-coded icons that identify problem areas. Such changes are intended to assist in the administration of the software. Other benefits promised include reduced IT overhead, enhanced campus network access and security, high software availability and reliability, and expanded third-party integrations.
