East Haven, CT-based Legend Food Service said it has acquired Sargent Enterprises, a longtime and respected vending operation serving the New Haven region. LFS said the Sargent operation will be completely tucked into its existing Connecticut footprint. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1951 by Fred and Zelda Generoso, and handed off to son David Generoso in 1970, Sargent Enterprises has been a staple in the New Haven metro area, earning a reputation as a premier service provider during its 69-year history. LFS said that Sargent is one of the region’s longest continuously operating vending and coffee service companies.
The two operations geographically overlap, creating a “tremendous fit” within LFS’s existing operation. LFS will serve Sargent’s clients from LFS’s new state of the art facility, which runs routes throughout the New Haven market and west to Stamford and north to Hartford.
“There has been no operation in the New Haven metro area with a better reputation than Sargent Enterprises,” said LFS chief executive Kyle Loughran. “We are honored that David trusts us to carry on the quality and service he has provided to his customers for the last 50 years, and we look forward to serve them.”
In operation for more than 45 years and formerly known as Automated Convenience Services, Legend Food Service specializes micro market, vending machine, office coffee and water services. Sargent Enterprises is LFS’s third acquisition.
