Law360 reports that Gimme Vending told a federal judge at the first day of a bench trial in Massachusetts on July 10 that a one-time partner Vendsys violated its copyright, breached its contract and misappropriated its trade secrets in a joint venture. Gimme Vending is suing Massachusetts-based rival Vendsys for copyright infringement of its software, unfair competition, and breach of contract over technology that Gimme Vending says Vendsys copied after their partnership. Gimme Vending told U.S. District Judge William G. Young that the deal with Vendsys, which manages data for 100,000 vending machines, went wrong earlier this year because of troubling “double-speak,” lengthy delays and demands for more money.
