Herr Foods Inc. announced an agreement with Silk City to acquire a majority share in the Clifton, N.J.-based snack food manufacturer. Ed Herr, Herr's President explained in a prepared statement, "We're very excited about the array of snack opportunities Silk City provides us. With this new partnership, we expand our portfolio of manufacturing capabilities and believe we have an even greater innovation platform for responding to consumers' growing interest in more diverse, natural and low fat snacks."
In addition to producing items for Herr's own brands, Herr's also offers contract manufacturing services for select customers who are looking for innovation and high quality at a value price. The partnership with Silk City will expand Herr's capabilities in this area as well.
Upon full execution of this agreement, Herr's will continue to operate Silk City as a separate company from Herr's.
