Vagabond Vending Releases New iOS And Android Vending Management App

March 12, 2013

Vagabond, a mobile vending operations platform, recently announced the release of its new Vagabond 1.2 mobile application onto the iTunes and Google Play app stores. The latest version enables any person with an Android device to download the Vagabond application onto their mobile phone or tablet. Vagabond 1.2, in addition to Android compatibility, includes upgrades that further enhance the day-to-day mobile experience for vending operators, drivers and warehouse teams. Primarily focused on the mobile piece of the application, the new release forms the foundation for substantial web-based developments planned for release in conjunction with the NAMA OneShow in late April.

Previous to this new release, the Vagabond mobile application was available only to operators using Apple iOS devices. “With today’s release, Vagabond is now available to over 80 percent of all smart phone and tablet users in the U.S.,” said Michael Lovett, founder and chairman of DTG Holdings, parent company of Vagabond Vending, in a prepared statement. “We’re executing a number of developments this year that will extend our system’s competitiveness as we endeavor to offer the industry’s only simple, turn-key and affordable solution for small and medium vending operators to reduce cost and increase operating profits. This release includes significant upgrades to the Vagabond back-end infrastructure, which will be imperative as upcoming developments enable us to take on larger customers”.

“After a successful entry in the market in 2012, Vagabond is poised for significant growth as we continue to release developments that will dramatically enhance the toolset available to operators while maintaining our simple and effective user experience,” said  Juan Jorquera, Vagabond president. “Vagabond is intended to revolutionize the vending industry by placing a seamless and intuitive VMS solution in the hands of underserved smaller operators. This release accomplishes another step to fulfilling that mission.”

According to the company, the latest release includes a mobile snapshot that enables vending operators to see the most urgent aspects of their daily operation on one screen – which machines require attention, what products are running low, and the day’s sales results. In addition, the new load improves data handling in areas of weak cellular service and bolsters the capabilities of the back-end infrastructure. The revision lays the groundwork for a complete overhaul of Vagabond’s web product, to be released at the end of April, the entire focus of which is to provide operators more detailed reporting information and real-time analytics they can use to better manage labor costs, product selections, and profitability.
