Eric Dell, senior vice president of the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA), and Sheree Edwards, Southern regional legislative director, joined the Kentucky Automatic Merchandising Council (KAMC) at a legislative day at the state capitol in Frankfort, Ky. yesterday. Nearly 40 operators, suppliers and brokers worked together to lobby the legislature on House Bill 62.
“We participated in 32 separate meetings with lawmakers to discuss the provisions of House Bill 62, exempting the current 6 percent retail sales tax for vended products, placing vending on par with other retail sales channels that pay no sales tax on similar items. This would provide a much-needed boost to our members’ businesses and strengthen their contribution to the commonwealth’s economy,” Dell said in a prepared statement.
“It was exciting to join these industry leaders here in Kentucky to educate elected state officials on issues impacting the industry. KAMC president Mike Alexander and the board should be commended on their successful Legislative Day,” he continued.
“Relationship-building is an important part of our ongoing mission. We heard consistent positive feedback from legislators who got to know these small business men and women from throughout the state. We will continue to try to keep the momentum going on the support we’ve built through today’s efforts. The turnout alone was impressive and we look forward to continuing support from KMAC membership,” Dell added.
