California Lawmaker Rallies For Beverage Tax

California Assemblyman Bill Monning on Friday brought more than a dozen public health advocates together to push for a new tax on soda and other sweetened beverages, comparing health problems caused by obesity to those caused by cigarettes, according to The Mercury News in San Jose, Calif.
