Boise, ID, city council member TJ Thomson has introduced a Healthy Vending Policy plan that would limit the amount of “fatty” foods sold in all city-owned vending machines, KBOI2 reports. The proposal, which was presented at a city council meeting earlier this week, would require the city’s vending machines to consist of 10 percent “healthy” options. The plan outlines a “healthy” product as one with 250 calories or less per package and 35 percent or less caloric content from fat, among other requirements.
The source reports that the estimated cost of this plan is between $10,000 and $20,000.
