Researchers from the University of Southampton in the UK have published findings that reveal drinking coffee every day is linked to a reduced risk of liver cirrhosis, according to Medical News Today. The review of evidence also suggests that drinking two extra cups of coffee per day may nearly halve the risk of dying from the disease. Liver cirrhosis raises the risk of liver failure and cancer, the source reports, and develops when healthy tissue in the liver is replaced by scarred tissue.
The study was published in the journal Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
