San Francisco Considers Banning Facial Recognition Software

San Francisco has passed amendments to the Stop Secret Surveillance ordinance, which, if passed, would make the city the first to ban governmental use of facial recognition software, VentureBeat reports. City departments would have to create policies for their use of surveillance technology and explain the rationale for new tools.
