Apriva, a provider of end-to-end wireless transactions and secure information solutions, announced that its point-of-sale (POS) gateway processed transactions in excess of $1.85 billion during the third quarter of 2011, surpassing the record of $1.76 billion it set in the previous quarter, and representing a 25 percent gain over the third quarter of 2010. Considered among the market leaders for wireless payments providers in North America, Apriva said that its gateway handled approximately $5.14 billion in transactions during the first three quarters of 2011, signifying an increase of 27 percent compared to the same period in 2010.
“We’re delighted that the strong results that Apriva demonstrated in the first half of 2011 have continued through the third quarter,” noted Paul Coppinger, president of Apriva in a prepared statement. “Our entire POS business, including mobile payments, vending, and our core gateway services, are all performing exceedingly well. We have every expectation that these trends will continue through the busy holiday season and into 2012 when we will introduce Apriva’s new wallet solution.”
According to Coppinger, there are several strategic reasons behind Apriva’s growth including its channel expansion strategy and the strong uptick it is seeing in its Apriva Vend™ cashless vending solution.
“We’ve recently eclipsed the 500 mark in terms of active channel partners, which is certainly a significant milestone in the payments sector,” explained Coppinger. “In addition to having one of the largest distribution networks in our industry, our channel partners are taking full advantage of Apriva’s robust product portfolio which gives them a distinct advantage in providing cost-efficient solutions that meet the needs of a variety of merchants. The ability to offer merchants a mix of mobile payments technologies, cashless vending solutions and wireless payment processing represents a very unique and compelling opportunity for these providers.”
In addition to greater channel penetration, Coppinger specifically cited the growth of the Apriva Vend cashless payments solution as another key reason behind Apriva’s recent success.
“The activity in the vending space has been solid. Every week, we see more vending operators implementing cashless vending than we had the previous week. It’s a trend that is clearly gaining momentum. We fully expect our cashless vending business to continue to climb heading into 2012.”
An end-to-end solution, Apriva Vend gives operators the ability to cost-effectively integrate cashless vending into their operations to improve customer satisfaction, increase operational efficiency and capture better sales and profit margins. Apriva Vend’s comprehensive service incorporates system hardware and software, wireless connectivity, transaction and alarm reporting capabilities, and integration with leading payment processors and financial institutions.
