Once only available at its restaurants, White Castle’s top-selling non-beef item, the Chicken and Cheese Slider, will be available at retail outlets and convenience channels, including vending and micro markets.
The family owned fast-food and consumer packaged-goods company is now rolling out the popular Slider to retail outlets, making it available to "cravers" across the U.S.
The Chicken & Cheese Slider joins five other varieties of White Castle sliders that are available in grocers’ freezers and foodservice: Original Sliders, Classic Cheese Sliders, Jalapeño Cheese Sliders, Chicken Breast Sliders and the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Slider.
White Castle said its research shows that "craver"s want more slider options, and the Chicken and Cheese Slider, made with all white meat and topped with American cheese, was one of the top three they were interested in trying. The company added that sales performance supports a strong consumer preference for cheese-topped Sliders.
“Our four-count Chicken Slider is already our third-fastest growing retail slider, so we’re expecting the new version with cheese to be a huge hit with consumers,” said Tiffany Carreker, general manager and vice president of sales for Columbus, OH's White Castle’s retail division. “This is a great tasting sandwich and the perfect choice for grocery shoppers to bring home.”
