CNBC reports that nearly half of U.S. workers who are currently furloughed believe their job cut will be permanent, citing a poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. This number has increased throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as only 2 out of 10 households reported that they believed their temporary job cut would be permanent back in April 2020. Last week, roughly 1.4 million Americans filed for unemployment.
