Flowers Foods, Inc. Reports First Quarter 2017 Results

THOMASVILLE, Ga., May 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE: FLO), producer of Nature's Own,Wonder, Tastykake, Dave's Killer Bread, and other bakery foods, today reported financial results for the company's 16-week first quarter ended April 22, 2017. 

First Quarter Summary: 
Compared to the prior year first quarter where applicable 

• Sales decreased 1.4% to $1.188 billion. Excluding a divestiture, sales decreased 0.9%. 
• Diluted EPS increased 3.6% to $0.29. 
• Adjusted diluted EPS(1) decreased 10.7% to $0.25. 
• Net income increased 1.8% to $60.4 million. 
• Adjusted net income(1) decreased 11.3% to $52.6 million. 
• Adjusted EBITDA(2) decreased 4.2% to $132.8 million.
