Missouri School Board Declines Changes In Vending Machine Offerings

May 17, 2016

The Washington School Board in Washington, MO, will not be changing current offerings in its vending machines at the high school, middle school or career center, eMissourian.com reports. The topic was put on the Board agenda after a teacher and administrator wanted to discuss whether or not it was a good idea to have diet sodas in the vending machines at the high school.

Board members weighed in with their opinions, with several agreeing that teens should be able to make their own decision regarding soft drinks. One board member noted that he believed students would just bring sodas into school if changes were made in the vending machines.

Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer commented that the district is in compliance with state regulations concerning vending machine offerings
