Michigan State Senator Gretchen Whitmer To Speak At NAMA’s EDP

Oct. 10, 2014

(CHICAGO) October 9, 2014 – Joann DeNardis, NAMA’s Director of Education/Certification announced that Michigan State Senator Gretchen Whitmer will speak at NAMA’s Executive Development Program (EDP) at Michigan State University, October 19-23.

“We are looking forward to State Senator Whitmer’s insights on the importance of industry involvement with government at both the state and local levels,” DeNardis said. “This will be a valuable opportunity for our attendees to hear directly from an elected official on effective advocacy efforts.”

Whitmer, who will speak at an EDP luncheon Tuesday, October 21, was elected Senate Democratic Leader in 2011 and is the first woman to lead a caucus in the Michigan Senate. Prior to the Senate, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives and was the ranking Democrat on the Appropriations Committee.

Highlights of the EDP curriculum this year include a new, interactive workshop on generational marketing. This session, led by MSU professor Bonnie Knutson, Ph.D., will provide profile characteristics of varying generations of consumers. Participants will develop targeted marketing strategies to reach specific age groups.

The twenty-first century supply chain management session, led by MSU professor Judy Whipple, Ph.D., has been brought back by popular demand, following its debut last year. This MSU supply chain curriculum is ranked number one and number two in undergraduate and graduate programs, respectively, by U.S. News and World Report.

“Once again, we will welcome senior-level executives  to Michigan State, including representatives from a variety of leading industry companies -- Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, G&J Marketing, Vistar, Canteen, Royal Cup Coffee, DS Services, among others,” DeNardis concluded.
