NAMA To Host Webinar; US Department Of Agriculture (USDA) To Provide Overview Of The Smart Snacks In Schools Rules

(CHICAGO) May 19, 2014 – NAMA announced today it will host a free webinar presented by the United States Department of Agriculture to provide members with an overview of Smart Snacks in Schools nutrition standards that go into effect on July 1. The webinar, sponsored by Del Monte Foods, will also describe resources available to assist with the implementation of these standards. The 90 minute webinar, which will include a Q&A session, will take place on Wednesday, May 21, at 2:30 p.m. EST. 

Joann DeNardis, NAMA’s director of education/certification, said the webinar’s presenter, Nancy Lyons, is an experienced policy analyst with the Food and Nutrition Service division of the USDA.

“Nancy currently works for the School Programs Division of the Special Nutrition Programs in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs,” DeNardis said. “Her perspective is invaluable for our members. We thank the USDA for bringing this webinar to our members.”
