NAMA announces an inaugural industry celebration: National Vending Machine Day taking place Thursday, March 7. The first of its kind, the day will recognize the people who proudly make, sell, enjoy and love vending machines and the products they bring.
From multinational brands beloved around the world to multi-generational business owners, route drivers and plant floor employees, vending touches people’s lives in ways large and small.
To mark this day, NAMA will showcase the industry – which includes vending – and its total economic impact of nearly $25 billion. The US Convenience Services industry is represented in every community across the United States through traditional vending and micro markets — unattended retail — as well as office coffee and pantry services. The industry, providing 140,000 good paying jobs with $7.21 billion in wages, pays $3.5 billion taxes at every level of government. From manufacturing to small-drop distribution, the industry meets the needs of consumers everywhere they are.
“Vending machines are used millions of times each day and provide a fun, convenient way to make consumers happy and get what they want. I am sure that this day will be seen by consumers as a way to celebrate something that is often taken for granted,” said Joe Hessling, CEO of 365 Markets and member of NAMA’s Executive Committee, who originally suggested the celebration.
“The upcoming National Vending Machine Day – March 7, 2019 -- marks an important moment in the industry. Now is the time to celebrate the economic impact and corporate responsibility of our industry, whose members serve consumers everywhere they work, play and live,” said Roni Moore, NAMA’s Vice President of Public Relations.
