National Automatic Merchandising Association OneShow To Host Government Affairs Symposium April 25, 2012 In Las Vegas
Dec. 1, 2011
The 2012 National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) Government Affairs Symposium, which will focus on the federal government's continued impact on vending, foodservice and coffee service companies' bottom lines, is expected to once again be a must-attend education session at the NAMA OneShowSM April 25 to 27, 2012, at the Venetian/Sands in Las Vegas.
"NAMA's Government Affairs team is fully engaged year round in helping our members understand how legislation and regulations can affect their businesses, and the OneShow's Symposium will address the most critical issues for 2012," said LyNae Schleyer, NCE, CMP, NAMA's senior director, OneShow and education in a prepared statement. "Everyone who attends this session arrives with questions and concerns, but they leave with answers and practical and implementable ways to minimize the government's effect on their companies' sales and profits."
The 2012 Government Affairs Symposium will take place on Wed., April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In advance of the program, NAMA's state council leaders, officers, staff, lobbyists and national leadership are encouraged to attend an early-morning State Council Breakfast beginning at 7:00 a.m. The breakfast will be an open forum where participants will share their concerns, learn about developments in other states, and suggest what NAMA can do to best serve its members in the legislative affairs arena.
The Symposium, open to all attendees, will address important developments at the federal level. For example, finalized rules on calorie disclosures and ADA accessibility requirements should be in place by the OneShow, and guidelines on compliance will be shared. Key updates on coins and currency, including paper currency redesign plans and how those plans may affect members' businesses, may also be covered. Federal representatives from the Food & Drug Administration, Department of Justice, and the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing will once again be invited to attend and share their knowledge and guidance with NAMA members.
