Local Layoffs Affect Quad Cities Vending Company

Aug. 1, 2016

Although some parts of the U.S. economy are flourishing, Vander Vending, located in Rock Island, IL, has been impacted by local layoffs, according to WQAD. Vander Vending’s Jerry Schreiner noted that agriculture is down, which affects many businesses. Moline, IL-based Deere & Company, for example, is laying off 120 workers indefinitely in September, bringing the total to around 2,000 Deere employee layoffs in Illinois and Iowa.

One of the Vander Vending’s clients also dropped its workforce from 80 to 18 over the last three years.

The 10-person staff vending company is adapting for the times, though, the source reports, and plans to grow despite the economy.
