California State Sen. Bill Monning and the California Medical Association proposed a bill that would require sugary drinks sold in the state to have health warning labels, according to the Los Angeles Times. Known as SB1000, the bill would require the warning label on the front of all cans and bottles of soda and fruit drinks sold in stores that have 75 of more calories per 12 ounces. The proposed wording is: “STATE OF CALIFORNIA SAFETY WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar(s) contributes to obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay.” Full article.
