New York’s highest state court announced it has agreed to hear New York City’s appeal of a mid-level court ruling that blocked Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s proposed 16 ounce soda ban, according to the Huffington Post. The American Beverage Association, in opposition to Bloomberg’s legislation, is confident the lower court decision will be held. The proposed legislation that would ban restaurants and food carts from selling sodas and sugary beverages over 16 ounces was ruled “illegal” earlier this year. Full article.
