AdvancePierre Foods associates will come together to help community members in need during the company's third annual volunteer day on Aug. 22, 2013. Volunteer activities, held in conjunction with food banks and community organizations near AdvancePierre Foods' manufacturing facilities, will celebrate the company's commitment to supporting communities in the eight cities across the country where its associates work, live and raise their families, according to the company release.
"AdvancePierre Foods is proud to collaborate and partner with regional food banks and community organizations to guarantee that families and children in our own communities are able to have well-rounded meals today and throughout the year," said Lisa Gallagher, senior vice president of corporate marketing and strategic accounts, AdvancePierre Foods, in a prepared statement. "We are excited to donate our time and products to support those residents of our communities who are in need."
Hundreds of associates from AdvancePierre Foods' facilities in Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma and South Carolina will be donating their time to local food banks, food pantries, youth organizations and at various food distribution sites to ensure that families across the country receive the nourishing food they need. Onsite activities will include packaging items for child feeding programs, assisting with mobile food pantry distribution, organizing and sorting items, filling backpacks at food pantry warehouses, planting vegetable gardens and sprucing up facilities with painting and maintenance projects.
In addition to the hundreds of volunteer hours that AdvancePierre Foods' associates will contribute, the company will also be donating thousands of pounds of AdvancePierre Foods products to feed those in need.
