NAMA Exec Eric Dell Addresses Legislative Issues At MD-DC Vending Association Meeting

June 10, 2013

NAMA Government Affairs Senior Vice President Eric Dell and Senior Manager Pam Gilbert were among the 75 attendees at the Maryland/DC (MD-DC) Vending Association annual meeting last month at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Md.

“Congratulations to the MD-DC vending association on a well-attended state meeting. Their increased focus on advocacy and their work with elected officials will benefit both their state council and the industry as a whole,” said Dell, in a prepared statement.

Dell spoke on federal legislative and regulatory issues and provided an update on the industry regarding refreshment services, vending, micro-markets, as well as NAMA’s initiatives, including the Positioning for Growth campaign.

At the meeting, David Meyers of Jade’s Vending in Rockville, Md., outgoing president of MD-DC, provided an overview of the association’s activities and issues. Also featured was Ellen Valentino, executive vice president of the MD-DE-DC Beverage Association, who discussed health and wellness initiatives impacting the industry, including beverage restrictions, taxes and mandates for “healthy” vending options in city, local and state facilities, and the beverage association’s responses to these challenges.

The new MD-DC officers were introduced: President David Durnbaugh of SunDun Inc., in Beltsville, Md.; Vice President Scott Meskin of Black Tie Services in Baltimore, Md.; and continuing Treasurer Hugh O’Neill of Mid Maryland Vending in Thurmont, Md.
