Fairfax County, Va. Schools Receive $2.1 Million Grant To Give Kids Pedometers To Track Exercise

Fairfax County, Va. school officials will equip kids with pedometers, which they will be expected to wear sunup to sundown, up to 35 days per school year, tracking how many steps the child takes each day as part of a $2.1 million federal grant to track students' nutrition and physical activity over three years, according to The Washington Examiner in Washington, D.C. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade in this district will wear for 20 days each school year, and older children will sport for 35 days.

As draconian as this may seem, it’s good to see that the government is looking at ways to address child obesity, which is a very serious issue.
