Tyson Fresh Meats Announces It Will Resume Limited Production At Iowa, Indiana And Washington Facilities
Tyson Fresh Meats resumed limited production at its Pasco, Wash., beef facility yesterday and has announced it will resume limited production at its Waterloo, Iowa facility tomorrow. It announced on May 1 its plans to resume limited production at its Logansport, Ind., facility this week as well. The three facilities had temporarily halted facilities in late April to test team members for COVID-19.
While the plants were idle, the company performed an additional deep clean and sanitization of the entire facilities, the press releases stated. The facilities have taken additional steps to promote safety and social distancing.
The Iowa and Washington press releases stated the following precautions have been employed:
- The use of infrared thermometers to check the temperature of team members before they enter company facilities.
- Supplying of protective facial coverings to every team member and requiring they are utilized.
- Required use of face shields for team members where workstation barriers can’t physically be implemented.
- Wellness checks to screen for symptoms, such as coughing and shortness of breath.
- Additional dedicated social distance monitors stationed throughout the facility during all shifts to ensure team members are adhering to safety protocols and social distancing requirements.
Matrix Medical Network is providing a mobile health clinic at each of the sites as well to provide onsite screening and diagnostic testing for COVID-19, and the company has also doubled its bonus for employees and increased short-term disability coverage to 90% of normal pay until June 30, the releases stated.
