White-label meal company UpMeals reported that it has installed its first SmartVending machine at Devonshire Properties’ Larch Tower, a residential building in Vancouver, BC.
According to UpMeals, its vending machine will provide 1,000-plus residents access to custom “healthy” meals available around the clock in the building’s lobby.
“Residents will be able to grab healthy options on their way to work in the morning, have a freshly prepared entrée in the evening and have access to healthy treats and snacks throughout the day,” UpMeals said.
The company noted that meals are delivered to the machine, a refrigerated system, at a regular cadence to ensure freshness. And Devonshire Properties will have the ability to monitor its SmartVending machine remotely, create plans for meals nearing their expiry date and build menus based on product popularity.
About 25% of the machine’s items will include nonfood necessities like laundry cards, detergents and toothpaste.
