The Hustle explored how the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred increased interest in vending machines. This increased interest is evident not only on the consumer side, but on the ownership side. Noting that many Americans are looking for new ways to earn income during the pandemic, the author cited vending's low barrier to entry as a factor in attracting what he calls "a new generation of vending machine entrepreneurs — schoolteachers, nurses, mechanics, students — who measure profits in $1 bills and utilize new technologies to monitor and scale their operations."
