McDonald’s will reintroduce its McCafe concept in 2017, about eight years after its initial nationwide debut, according to the Chicago Tribune. The fast-food giant will shake up its coffee brand to challenge Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, the source reports.
The upcoming McCafe campaign will include more seasonal beverages, special deals and increased marketing of the company’s rewards program, Kristy Cunningham, U.S. senior vice president of strategy and insights told the Chicago Tribune. McDonald’s is planning a $1 drip coffee and $2 specialty beverage promotion for the first quarter of next year.
