Coffee houses, convenience stores and other retailers are preparing for National Coffee Day, this Thursday, Sept. 29. Metro.US reports that c-store Wawa will be offering free coffee all day, any size, while Pilot Flying J Travel Centers will be offering a coupon for a complimentary small size cup of coffee, tea or cappuccino all day.
Krispy Kreme, Peet’s Coffee, Dunkin’ Donuts, Birch Coffee and Starbucks are also participating in National Coffee Day, each offering their own discount to drive consumers to their locations. Online, both Keurig and Coffee.org are reportedly offering virtual discounts with codes.
Editor’s Note: It’s not too late for operators to capitalize on the upcoming National Coffee Day. Use social media to host a National Coffee Day contest (ex. “Retweet this post using [specific hashtag] for a chance to win a bean-to-cup machine in your office for a week”); or offer a bundled coffee promotion in a micro market; place signage in traditional OCS locations touting the benefits of coffee and perhaps offer a more upscale coffee on Thursday, Sept. 29.
