Reunion Island Converts All Flavored Coffees To Rainforest Alliance Certified
In celebration of the Rainforest Alliance’s Follow the Frog Week, Reunion Island Coffee recently announced that all of its flavored coffees will now use only Rainforest Alliance® Certified coffee beans. With nearly 20 flavored coffees, this change is helping the company achieve its goal of making at least 30 percent of its coffee purchases from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.
“People love our flavored coffees. At this time of year, all you need to do is look at how many people are sipping Pumpkin Spice to see that,” explained Robin White, vice president of marketing, in a prepared statement. “We’re confident our customers will embrace these coffees even more enthusiastically with sustainability certification from Rainforest Alliance.”
Reunion Island’s Rainforest Alliance Certified flavors include Banana Cream, Bavarian Chocolate, Butter Pecan, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Chocolate Raspberry, French Caramel, French Vanilla, Irish Cream, Makin’ Me Crazy, Maple Cream, S’mores, Snicker Doodle, Tiramisu, Vanilla Hazelnut Cream, and everyone’s seasonal favorite, Pumpkin Spice. Several flavors are also available in a decaffeinated version as well.
Responsible sourcing is a key component of Reunion Island’s REACH Program, which encompasses all of the company’s sustainability initiatives. Rainforest Alliance’s commitment to providing farmers with a fair price for their product helps to ensure that Reunion Island can continue to source distinctive and truly sustainable coffees.
“Reunion Island has a long standing relationship with Rainforest Alliance,” said Adam Pesce, director of coffee. “Close to half of our portfolio of coffees carry the Rainforest Alliance Certification and that number is only getting larger. I’ve seen firsthand the effect Rainforest Alliance has had on coffee growing regions around the world, both from an economic and sustainability standpoint.”
