OptConnect, a leader in managed wireless services, has acquired Silicon Valley-based Premier Wireless Solutions, an IoT network solutions provider. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to an announcement, PWS will continue to operate under the Premier Wireless Solutions name, but will be branded as an OptConnect company. Its San Jose, CA, office will remain open and PWS founder Vince Giacomini will serve as president of the business unit.
The acquisition allows two complementary organizations to leverage added strategic capabilities, product lines and service offerings, and provides scale with greater end-market diversification and global reach.
Since 2009, Kaysville, UT-based OptConnect marketed a successful connectivity-as-a-service model that has changed the way OEMs, operators and deployers get their equipment connected to the internet reliably, and without the expertise or expense of having to do it on their own.
Founded in 2010, PWS serves the M2M/IoT market by providing network design, hardware procurement, software configuration, staging and API integration, as well as device certification, implementation, management and support. It serves such IoT verticals and markets as digital signage, primary internet applications, utilities, asset tracking, EV charging and medical.
