Some Food Manufacturers May Not Be Following Illinois Sesame Allergies Declaration Law, ABC7 Reports

Some food manufacturers may not be following a new Illinois law that mandates declaring that foods that may contain sesame note that on labels, in an effort to help those who have sesame allergies, according to ABC7.

The news article cites a study that indicated that sesame is a common allergy across the country. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the legislation, HB 2123, in July.

Commissioner of Food and Drugs - Food and Drug Administration Scott Gottlieb M.D. made a statement that was released Oct. 29, 2018 asking for information on sesame allergies.
