For over 100 years, OREO has brought joy to generations of people around the world. Since that magical moment on March 6, 1912 when two decoratively embossed chocolate-flavored biscuits met up with a rich crème filling, OREO has been in the business of taking life a little less seriously. In honor of its 100th birthday, OREO wants to help everyone Celebrate the Kid Inside!
To commend the big birthday of the world’s favorite cookie, OREO has set out to reignite the spirit of childhood in us all. In a world that’s become far too adult, a couple of OREO cookies, a glass of milk, and a shared twist, lick and dunk is all it takes to set loose the kid inside.
The March 6 centennial celebration surprised consumers in seven cities with “flash birthday parties”—including a concert with a special guest in Los Angeles—as well as a celebration on Capitol Hill.
OREO plans to keep the party going with promotions, in-store events and more. OREO fans can share how they’ve let their inner child free by posting a photo, story or video to the OREO Moments Gallery online at OREO.com/birthday and the OREO Facebook fan page. The “Million Moments Meter” will track submissions, one heartwarming moment at a time, so fans can see what others are doing all around the world.
In addition, Facebook fans will have a chance throughout 2012 to be featured for the brand’s “Birthday of the Day”, which spotlights a new fan on his/her birthday every day. Fans can also choose to send personalized birthday greeting cards through Facebook to family and friends, which includes a customized greeting from award-winning country music artists Lady Antebellum.
Operators can help their customers continue to Celebrate the Kid Inside with exciting promotions. Kraft is offering free OREO birthday-themed giveaways and sweepstakes, and point-of-sale materials, including: table tents, counter cards, in-store party invites and more.
