Sabra names Bergstein president and chief executive

Hummus snack maker Sabra Dipping Co. LLC has named Joey Bergstein president and chief executive, effective July 8.  Bergstein, who recently served as chief executive of Seventh Generation Inc., is charged with furthering Sabra's vision as a leading plant-based food brand.

Bergstein joined Seventh Generation, which markets eco-friendly cleaning and personal care products, in 2011 and was its chief executive since 2017. He will continue to serve on Seventh Generation's social mission board. Prior to Seventh Generation, he worked in executive roles at Procter & Gamble, Molson and Diageo.

In its announcement, Sabra said Bergstein joins the company as it continues to expand its fresh hummus, guacamole, and other plant-based dips and spreads to to an increasingly healthy and environmentally conscious consumer base.

According to IRI, for the 52 weeks ended Jun. 13, the total fresh dips category is estimated at $2.7 billion. Hummus represents more than 31.6% of all fresh dip dollar sales and Sabra has a 61.3% market share of that.
