Mississippi Governor Enacts Law Exempting Vending, Micro Markets From State Regulation
March 21, 2019
Effective July 1, the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce and the Mississippi State Board of Health will no longer regulate vending machines and micro markets that sell pre-packaged food and other food products for individual retail sale that have been acquired from a source approved by the USFDA or a state government agency.
Gov. Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1206 on March 19. The bill amended Section 69-1-18 of the Mississippi Code of 1972.
Republican Rep. Jerry R. Turner, District 18, authored the bill, with Rep. Kathy Sykes, District 70, as co-author.
