Montana Legislator Proposes Minimum Wage Increase

Jan. 17, 2017

Montana Rep. Mary Ann Dunwell, D-Helena, introduced House Bill 169 which would raise the minimum wage to $10.10 in January 2018, according to Missoulian. The current minimum wage is $8.15 per hour. The Montana Department of Labor and Industry’s deputy commissioner supported the legislation as one way to attract new workers to the state. Opponents of the bill, however, noted that businesses would have to increase prices, cut jobs or delay expansion.
