Ned Monroe, the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) senior vice president of government affairs is resigning his position to join the National Association of Manufacturers, the nation's largest industrial trade association representing manufacturers of all sizes and industries. Monroe will be serving as senior vice president of government affairs.

Dan Mathews, NAMA executive vice president and chief operating officer, said in a prepared statement, "Ned's tenure at NAMA was perfectly positioned – he was the right guy at the right time, and our industry owes him a debt of gratitude for the exceptional work he did on our behalf, presenting our industry in a favorable light before our nation's decision makers and ensuring they understood our position on a variety of issues. Under his leadership our government affairs team made significant progress in protecting the industry from unfair legislation, regulation and taxation; developing strategic priorities and capsulizing the important issues to ensure grassroots involvement and affiliated state council support. At the same time he established excellent relationships on Capitol Hill that will be easily sustainable through the transition to a new NAMA Government Affairs executive. The National Association of Manufacturers is a much, much larger organization than NAMA, and we congratulate him on this incredible opportunity."

Mathews added that the search for Monroe's replacement is already under way, but in the meantime, the organization will rely on the Washington, D.C. lobbyist at Howe & Hutton to represent the industry when needed. In addition, the government affairs staff members at NAMA are very knowledgeable about the issues and will continue to represent and help members on a day-to-day basis. In addition, NAMA has a very active board of directors appointed government affairs committee which is fully engaged on the issues.

In writing about his time at NAMA Monroe said, "I have enjoyed working for NAMA and managing a very successful team dedicated to an outstanding association. I have worked alongside excellent colleagues and we have grown a very successful legislative program. I will never forget my time at NAMA."

Concluded Mathews, "On behalf of everyone at NAMA we thank Ned for all of his hard work, dedication and service, and wish him the best of luck."
