NAMA Webinar For Operators Reviews Best Practices During The Coronavirus Crisis
NAMA staff held a webinar at 1 p.m. ET March 24 for operators, “NAMA Webinar: Listening & Leading (Operators).” Ten NAMA staff members served as panelists, presenting on topics including communications, employee benefits and other human resources needs, and supply chain during this coronavirus pandemic crisis. Staff also took several questions from the 147 webinar attendees and asked operators some questions as well.
Heather Bailey, partner at SmithAmundsen, noted that she anticipates small operators (who have 50 or fewer employees) will receive guidance from the Department of Labor on how to structure sick leave and other benefits for their employees. She added SmithAmundsen has resources regarding the coronavirus here.
Mike Goscinski, NAMA’s director, federal and state affairs, recommended that operators and their employees who come into contact with individuals who have contracted the coronavirus consult CDC resources for advice on next steps. He added that NAMA will soon post guidelines on its website regarding these procedures that specifically advise professionals in the food industry.
Ben White, director of education and training, asked operators to share how customers have responded as well. NAMA President and CEO Carla Balakagie encouraged operators to reach out with questions, concerns and inspiring stories to share.
