Coffee Capsule Maker Sues Nespresso For Patent Infringement

The Ethical Coffee Company (ECC), a manufacturer of Nepresso-compatible coffee capsules, is suing Nestle Nespresso for 150 million euros, alleging patent infringement, according to Beverage Daily.

The ECC accuses Nespresso of violating European Patent EP 2 312 978 B1 when it introduced a ‘harpoon mechanism’ to its machines that stopped ECC’s capsules from working in the brewer. Full article.
