NAMA Names Lindsey Nelson Executive Director, Development

NAMA announced that Lindsey Nelson has been named to the newly created post of executive director, development/NAMA Foundation.

In this role, Nelson will have responsibility for fund-raising with a focus on broader development, donor relations and reporting as well as project management and implementation. She will also serve as a both a member of the NAMA senior leadership team and staff liaison to the NAMA Foundation board of directors.

For the past 15 months, Nelson has been at NAMA as an outside consultant with Association Development Solutions (ADS). In this role, she served as campaign director for the Positioning for Growth campaign, helping lead the association’s effort to raise more than 20 percent over the budgeted goal of $4 million.

“During Lindsey’s tenure as a consultant to NAMA, she successfully built important relationships within the industry, not only with NAMA staff but also with the association’s board and members of the industry overall. With her professional approach, experience and talent, she will be an asset to NAMA without question,” said Dan Mathews, executive vice president and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.

With a background rooted in association management, consulting and client service, Nelson most recently was executive director at Association Development Service (ADS) serving as fundraising counsel for several trade and professional associations.

Prior to that, she held positions of increased responsibility at Association Management Center (AMC) in Glenview, Ill. She began her career at AMC as a national sales manager selling corporate sponsorship, advertising and trade show space and was eventually promoted to account operations manager where she played a vital role in transitioning management operations for two trade associations and integrating both into the firm’s portfolio of full-service clients.

Nelson, a member of the Association Forum of Chicagoland and active participant in the Fundraising and Development SIG, is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind. with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with minors in Spanish and Women’s Studies.
